About Floristry Foundations
Join Iris and other Flower Enthusiasts in this popular 6-week Floristry Course for beginners.
Learn the foundational skills of European Floral Design that will help you prepare for everyday flower arranging at home, or commercial floristry work and even basic wedding designs.
At the conclusion of each of the six classes you will take home a stunning arrangement of flowers. You will gain new knowledge and skills in each class, building a firm foundation for any further classes or flower arranging you might like to pursue.
A variety of arrangements are covered including simple pot arrangements, table centrepieces, bouquets, buttonholes and corsages
Investment: 1 payment of $739 or 6 weekly payments of $130

You will attend a Wednesday morning 3hr class each week for 6 weeks.

If you would like a tool kit of your own, you can purchase one here and it will be ready for you in your first class!
All flowers will be purchased by yourself for sessions 2,3, 5 and 6
Iris will provide Flowers and Sundries for session 1 and also for session 4.
You will get access to all the floristry supply wholesalers to purchase your florals and foliage and sundries items etc. during the duration of the course -

COURSE CONTENT
Sessions 1 & 2
Session 1: Introduction into Flower arranging, What is Symmetry, how to soak Base mediums, how to use our floristry tools correctly, how to wire a Gerbera?, what is point relation?
Outcome: Symmetrical Posy Bowl arrangement -compact
Session 2: What is Active/Passive Form? What is staggering technique,Re-cap on point relation, use of tools especially knife
Outcome: Symmetrical Pot arrangement -loose and airy
Sessions 3 & 4
Session 3: How to anchor a candle into a base medium, how to prep materials for a table deco, re-enforcing learning outcomes from session 1+2
Outcome: Decorative Table Decoration, long and low with one or more candles
Session 4: why and how to use wires and tapes correctly, what gauge wire for what material? How to assemble a wired product.
Outcome: Basic buttonhole and dress-corsage
Sessions 5 & 6
Session 5: how to make a short stemmed bouquet? What is spiraling technique? How to tie-off the bouquet and how to professionally finish with a wrap.
Outcome: Posy style bouquet- compact
Session 6: Re-enforce spiraling technique, tying and wrapping of a long-stemmed bouquet.
Outcome: Strauss design- looser outline
